November Events

Although the month before Christmas used to be relatively quiet, in the run up to the buzzing hum of the festive season, there are plenty of entertaining activities to keep you occupied throughout the month, in Malta. Here’s a selection of the top events taking place across the islands, during November:

3 – 12 November: Three Palaces Festival
This week-long music festival is set in magnificent historical buildings, as part of the Valletta 2018 events. World renown artists will perform within three of Malta’s stunning historical Baroque palaces – San Anton Palace, Verdala Palace and the Grandmaster’s Palace – together with the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta, a World Heritage city.

3 – 5 November: Malta International Choir Festival
This year marks the 23rd edition of the Malta International Choir Festival, which will be held at various localities in Valletta, including the Mediterranean Conference Centre and St John’s Co-Cathedral. This much beloved festival will see the performances of 36 choirs from 19 different countries.

5 November: Relive the Medieval Life of Mdina
This free interactive tour lasts 45 minutes starting at 10:00hrs from St Publius Square (just past Mdina Main Gate) is being organised by Compagnia San Michele and the Malta Tourism Authority. Guests attending the event will be entertained by re-enactors representing the people who roamed the streets of Mdina during the 15th century. The tour is being organised on these dates; Sunday 5th March, Sunday 7th May, Sunday 8th October & Sunday 5th November 2017.

8 – 12 November: The Malta Book Festival 2017
Evolving from the Malta Book Fair, which was first held in 1979, the Malta Book Festival 2017 is now the most important annual event for book lovers on the Islands. Attended by some 30,000 visitors, this year’s edition will see over 40 exhibitors and over 50 events, including book launches, book presentations, poetry readings, meetings with authors as well as seminars. www.ktieb.org.mt

10 – 19 November: Ziguzajg
ŻiguŻajg is an annual international arts festival for children and young adults, promoting the creative arts through an inclusive and accessible artistic programme. The festival also aims to develop a national repertoire of works for children and young people. This year’s edition is being held in collaboration with Valletta 2018 and Fondazzjoni Kreattività. The festival will be held around various venues in Valletta.

14 – 16 November: The Malta International Darts Open 2017
The Malta Darts Association will be organising Malta International Darts Open 2017 at the Cottonera Sports Complex. The event will host dart enthusiasts from around the world. https://goo.gl/nMIGdA

19 November: The President’s Solidarity Fun Run 2017
Organised annually by the Malta Community Chest Fund, the President’s Solidarity Fun Run has become a highlight of the local events calendar. The event is held in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. The departure points are Rabat (11.13 km run), Paola Square (5.35 km walk), Santa Venera (4.49 km walk) and the University of Malta (4.69 km walk).

20 November – 8 December: Malta International Organ Festival 2017
One of the most loved annual events for classical music aficionados is the Malta International Organ Festival. The event will host a total of 18 concerts by international musicians in the Cathedrals, Basilicas and Churches across the Maltese Islands.
